Board Governance

At Michigan Workforce Empowerment Foundation (MWEF), strong governance and ethical leadership are fundamental to advancing our mission and maintaining public trust.

Board of Directors

MWEF is governed by a Board of Directors responsible for providing strategic direction, fiduciary oversight, and organizational accountability. The Board ensures that the Foundation operates in alignment with its mission, legal obligations, and nonprofit best practices.

Board Responsibilities

The Board of Directors is responsible for:

  • Establishing organizational mission, vision, and strategic priorities

  • Providing oversight of financial stewardship and resource allocation

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and State of Michigan regulations

  • Supporting ethical governance and accountability standards

  • Overseeing executive leadership and organizational performance

Fiduciary Duties

Board members of MWEF uphold the core fiduciary duties expected of nonprofit directors:

  • Duty of Care: Acting in good faith and with reasonable diligence

  • Duty of Loyalty: Acting in the best interest of the organization and avoiding conflicts of interest

  • Duty of Obedience: Ensuring adherence to the organization’s mission and governing documents
